Reinstall a server

Reinstalling gives you a clean server and a new password. It deletes everything on the server's disk, and this cannot be undone. Copy anything you need first.

To protect you, we confirm it is really you by email.

Steps

1. Open your server from Servers.
2. In the Reinstall panel, type the server's name exactly.
3. Press Email me a confirmation code.
4. Open the email we send to the address you sign in with. It contains a six-digit code.
5. Enter the code and press Erase and reinstall, then confirm.

When it starts, your new password appears under Login. See Find your server login.

About the code

• It works once and expires after 15 minutes.
• After five wrong tries it is cancelled and you must ask for a new one.
• You can ask for a new code once a minute.
• If you did not ask for a code, ignore the email. Nothing changes without the code. Please also contact us and change your password.

After the reinstall

We email you to say the server was reinstalled, so you would notice if someone else did it. The server starts again from a fresh system, so you need to set it up again and restore your files from your own backups.
